
Common Collision Repair Term
- Total Loss:
- • A total loss is when the price of the vehicle repairs exceeds the value of the vehicle.
- OEM:
- • Original Equipment Parts. Parts manufactured by the auto maker that built the vehicle.
- PDR:
- • Paintless Dent Repair. This is a fast cost effective alternative to the traditional repair process for small dings and dents. However, this is not suitable for all vehicles.
- LKQ:
- • Like Kind Quality. These are parts that are not new from the manufacturer of the vehicle. However, these parts are almost the same as the OEM parts and they will work well in most vehicles.
- Pre-Loss Condition:
- • The condition the vehicle was in immediately before the loss occurred.
- QRP:
- • Aftermarket or Remanufactured Parts
- R&I:
- • To remove and install existing part
- R&R:
- • Removed and replace. Remove Existing part and replace with a the old damaged part with a new part of the same kind.
- Sublet:
- • Service performed by an outside vendor or department within a Repair Facility.
- Supplement:
- • A revision of the original estimate. Usually once vehicle has been disassembled, there are additional procedures and/or parts needed to repair the vehicle that were not listed on the original estimate.
